[Barbara's Daily Message] Making Decisions

Do you find making decisions stressful?
If you are making a decision, on what basis are you making it?
On the basis of your own needs?
Other people's needs, what you want, what they want?
Making decisions will be very stressful if your basis is unclear
Your own decisions need to be on the basis of what you need or want (not others!)
If the decision effects others then include their needs and wants in the decision
If the decision is on behalf of others then focus on their needs and wants
Remember you can't make a decision for yourself based on other people's needs or wants, it needs to be made on the basis of your own needs and wants!!

While putting yourself first can feel selfish
If you want to keep going you need to look after yourself
But even if you are looking after yourself are you still putting everyone else first?
This can cause significant stress and anxiety if you spend your life
Looking after everyone else's needs and only just looking after enough of your own
Without really making the commitment to yourself
The world needs each of us angels to be in our best health
Make the decision to value yourself equally in your work, home, life decisions
And take back control of your life.

We know that we should pace ourselves
We know that we should keep perspective on what happens around us
We know that life is for living, enjoying the moment and keeping an eye on the future
But day to day it can kind of get lost in the sea of minutiae
And we forget our path, detour via the rocky, challenging path
So we need touch points to remind us to get on the path
These can be new year resolutions, affirmations, regular get togethers with like minded people
Or even calendar reminders
Find and set up multiple touch points in your daily life to help yourself find your path when you go on a detour!

[Barbara's Daily Message] Inside Vs Outside

Is there a battle going on in your life?
Inside versus outside?
Got what you want on the outside but inside everything is lousy?
Got what you want on the inside but everything on the outside is lousy?
Our goal of having inner peace and outer happiness can actually result in a contradiction and can set us up for this battle
Inner peace is about be reasonable with ourselves and aligning our internal thoughts around the ideas for inner peace
Outer happiness is about the actions and activities we take on a daily, weekly, monthly basis that bring happiness to us
Our assumption is that the two things are the same, so having one will bring about the other.
This just isn't true.
They are interdependent, having inner peace will help us towards happiness but peace is not happiness!
Having happiness will help us towards inner peace but happiness is not peace!
If inner peace and outer happiness are your goal
Plan and work on improvements in both rather than just one...

Mental freedom
The freedom to choose our thoughts
The freedom to change our thoughts and ideas at will
The freedom to accept or reject our own ideas, our inner conversations and our fears
Requires self acceptance at every level of our being
Accepting ourselves as a patchwork quilt of experiences, perspectives, ideas and opinions
Great bits, crappy bits, bits you'd like to rework
Except each one of us unique, each one of us with a role, each one of us with value
And together makes a patchwork quilt of light angels for our earth
Freedom for us, freedom for her too!

What then?
We tend to plan change and self improvement when we feel our best
But in order for it to stick we need to look at how we will manage when life feels rough
Then when we stick to our plans in the tough times
We can be confident we can make the changes that we want to.

Is an important step on our journeys

How do we think of enjoyment these days?
Being passively entertained by electronic devices or prerecorded situations and stories?
Venturing out into the wide world to see, touch, feel what is around us?
Or by escaping into our imagination through books and day dreaming?
The latter two options we choose to engage in activities of our choice
Electronic devices, tv, cinema can fill time and give us a passive escape
But does this build our emotional bank account?
Rarely, it tends to deplete it through our inability to switch off
Active effort, active escapism, contact with real stories connects with us, makes us part of the world rather than divorcing us from it
Controlling and minimising the impact of technology on our emotional bank accounts is important to live in a sane and loving world...

When we are facing our limits in our day to day experiences
We can feel stretched, stressed, vulnerable, even useless
But how can we learn if we never venture near our limits
How can we change and challenge our limits if we don't push up against them
If someone wants an "easy" life, they may think to live life within their limits
But this results in their limits shrinking and creating more stress and frustration
Our limits move with us and our experiences
Embrace the unknown, learn, and stretch your own limitations!

We all make assumptions about life
Other people's expectations generally defines our external behaviours
So our internal behaviours are generally defined by our self expectations
And if you believe that as a light angel you should have a generosity of spirit towards others
Do you apply that to yourself?
Or have you assumed that to be a "good" human you should be tougher on yourself and have higher standards and expectations?
Reality is that being tough and overly critical is self-sabotage
And developing Generosity of Spirit needs to start at home with yourself!
If you haven't started already, start today, bin those unreasonable expectations...
And bring generosity of spirit home!

Are you looking after yourself?
Are you giving yourself enough rest time?
Or are you burning your candle at both ends?
Stating the obvious, tiredness is an indicator of when you've done too much
Prolonged periods of tiredness could indicate a persistent lack of rest or over work
Are you spending most of your time over doing things, over working and not resting?
As human beings we need rest and recuperation
If you are overtired, don't ignore it
Give yourself time and space to relax and rest and help yourself to overcome tiredness!

We walk our paths sharing our experiences with others, learning as we go
Many of us have felt different as light angels and felt "outside" of the everyday interactions of people
Some of us crave acceptance by others
But how many of us fully accept ourselves as the person we are
We are human we are not perfect-man, to err is human
If you want people to accept you, accept yourself
If you don't care what others think, accept yourself anyway
If on your light angel journey you want to grow as an angel, accept yourself unconditionally then accept everyone else unconditionally and watch what happens!

Peaceful energy, a contradiction?
If we are energetic, we're full of life, action and buzzing!
If we are peaceful, we're at ease with ourselves and life and take life at a stroll
How can we be both?
If we were able to achieve both we could focus our energies on doing and achieving what is most important to us
while at the same time enjoying life, staying connected into the world and being calm
Peaceful and energetic aren't really a contradiction because they exist on different layers
Peaceful is an inner layer about how we are with ourselves and what is going on around us
Energetic is about sharing and directing our internal energy externally in a controlled manner
Instead of letting our energy run wild through us
Harnessing our energy and channeling it as needed balances ourselves and enables our peaceful side to shine through.

What route are you taking in life?
Are you listening to what is important to you?

We can choose the easy route, following others, not causing offence and staying quiet
Or we can choose to walk our talk

Living the easier route, deferring to others and standing back brings inner conflict
Living the route of congruency and honesty brings inner peace

Ever felt stressed or caught up in a fast paced environment
And all you wanted is to be was calm and peaceful?
All it takes is a bit of thought and imagination!
If we are feeling our pace is too high and we want to slow down
We can take a break or relax for a time
But what to we do when we can't get away?
By bringing one of our favourite, peaceful environments to ourselves!
Think of elements of your favourite relaxing environments:
The sunshine, bird song, relaxing music, the wind blowing through your hair etc...
What ever it is/they are, bring them to you when you need help to calm yourself down
This isn't about wishing we were some else but about finding ways to bring what we need to support ourselves through what feels like a challenging experience!

All we need is some reflection time and some patience
To let our path emerge

Do you know how powerful the voice can be?
Does your voice feel integrated and your own?
Or does it feel quiet and withdrawn?
Or perhaps chatty and scattergun?
How we use our voices everyday is a analogue to how we share or don't our energy with others
Balancing our voices within ourselves can balance our energies
So we make best use of our energy and our voices in different situations
Spending time meditating on the use of our voices
Balancing our chakras
And listening to instrumental music which feels tuned in with our voices
Can lead to having and sharing a more attuned voice
And a more balanced energy within.

While we know life is about learning
Sometimes we can wish to hide from all the commitments and responsibilities we have
But life is what we make of it
Learning to value the ups and downs is part of our journey

When things don't go well, being patient and giving ourselves permission to recover is important
But so too is picking ourselves up, dusting ourselves down so we can try again
Perserverance in face of adversity is a hard battle to win but the growth and value from these experiences is enormous

It's easy to look at someone else, their situation or their behaviour
And react, have feelings that are probably unreasonable

But are they giving back in other ways?
Or is part of your angel role to support them through their experiences?
It's easy for thoughts in our heads to spiral out of control
So check them out externally:
Either by writing them down or talking them through with someone
Make sure your feelings are reasonable and in perspective before you take any action!

Are you feeling frazzled?
Just moving through your day, your energy reserves feeling low?
Avoiding people and situations requiring more energy than you have?
Just want lie down away from others?
Feeling more emotional, reactive or sensitive than usual?
Feeling frazzled is a sign of being energetically exhausted
This isn't just a sign that you need a rest/holiday/break
But also that your energies need a boost and a refresh
Qi gong and yoga are great ways to give yourself a boost
Practised regularly they help you maintain your energetic "strength"!

Do you get frustrated easily?
Do you complain about your lot in life expecting others to sort it out?
Do you wish you would handle situations differently after the event?
Do you want more patience to help you?
There are different reasons we become impatient
We can be frustrated about an area in our lives that effects everything else
Are you?
We can be over tired, stressed or not looking after ourselves so we are creating background stress
Are you?
And/or we can have the wrong assumptions/expectations about how life/other people treat us so we can feel let down or frustrated about how things or life is going
Do you?
Spend some time thinking about the statements above and see if they apply to you
If so, think about solutions to help yourself
To live and share our light values with meaning us demonstrating them brings them to life for others
Becoming more patient will help us live and share them.

In our empathic, energy filled world of ours
We can feel pulled from pillar to post
We can be overly sensitive to people's comments
We can find difficult people very difficult to deal with
So how do we find a way through the "storm"?
By working out what are our thoughts and feelings
By knowing what is important to us
And by knowing our values
This way when it feels like the storm is arriving from all directions
Knowing our own mind is the rock the storm washes over and leaves behind in the bright sunshine!

[Barbara's Daily Message] Harmony

Light angels,

Spend your time in this world in harmony
Being out of harmony will cause you discomfort
By harmony we mean, internal and external interactions
If you are dissatisfied with life and without a plan to resolve it you will feel significantly out of balance
If you are not looking after yourself the energy conduit you are connected to can make you feel overwhelmed
For those not sleeping well (and not on night duty) this will make you more susceptible to emotional distress and low moods
Focus on bringing yourself into harmony physically, spiritually, mentally
Review your routine and create space in it for balance
Review your attitude to the world and love even in the face of adversity
Accept this world with all it's faults as a petulant teenager, it has it's heart in the right place but it's hormones (read energies) are out of balance
Our job is to help the world through its teenage angst by balancing out those energies
So we can all enjoy peace, love and joy...

There are two parts to every activity
It's conception and it's action
If your actions are not matching what you want to happen
Check in on your ideas of what needs to happen
Tell yourself what outcome you want
"I want a relaxing day" or "I want to finish this report"
And let the actions you want follow...

Do you ever feel you are trying to catch up with stuff (work, home, friends etc.)?
Or even just feeling constantly behind?
Or you just aren't good enough?
These are all internal perceptions of ourselves that are unrealistic and unreasonable
We are all good enough
Did you get that?!
We are all good enough
And everything external to us we just need to change our relationship with it
And stop letting life run us
We can choose how we relate to life and live our pace true to ourselves.

[Barbara's Daily Message] Fast or Slow Lane?

Are you living in the fast lane or the slow lane?
Does it matter which you are in?!
What is the fast lane?
The fast lane is actually us getting caught up in the importance of what we are doing to the detriment of others and even ourselves from our attention
Resulting in us trying to mentally move faster than our own pace or the world around us
We don't have to live at a sloooow pace
We just have to be at the pace we are at
And develop a bit of discipline to spot when we are accelerating beyond our own pace
And ground ourselves back to our own pace.

How often do you feel helpless about a situation?
Want to be able to do something to help but feel not able to
As light angels we have more actions available to us than we realise
Usually there will always be practical action we can take
But not always, maybe we hear about something afterwards or the event is far away
But with our light angel perspective we can send love, light and healing
We can ask for the best outcome from the light
We can focus our energies on support and transitions to help others deal with their experiences
And bring peace, calm and light to what is around us.

Our journeys are full of ups and downs

Too infrequently and we risk missing our wrong turns
Reflecting once a year gives us the opportunity to check in
Check our direction and our inner truth
So we can feel confident in our choices and efforts and realign if needed

Stay in your zone of peace and harmony while you go about life
If you lose focus, just follow the same steps to return
Practice and building your experience will make returning easier.

[Barbara's Daily Message] Dealing with Spiky Energy

For those of us who are sensitive to energy or other people's moods
How do we handle the ups and downs of events and those around us
Some people will talk about centering themselves
Some will think about protecting themselves with a "cloak" or a wall of light
Others will work on helping the person/event energy improve
These are all options available to us
But there is an another option,
Typically, energy sensitive people vibrate on different levels to the average person
And we can temporarily move ourselves between levels
And this is what happens when an energy spike turns up
It can catch us unaware and drag us to lower levels causing us discomfort and we feel out of sorts/off balance
When the energy is on a different level we can choose to be transparent to it so it passes through our own energy cloud rather than catch on it
We can still choose to take the energy in and transform it into positive energy out into the world
But it doesn't need to knock us off balance
This gives us another tool in our toolbox of coping strategies
Pick and choose which approach to use when you need...

If a path is not working, if dissatisfaction is a frequent companion in someway
We can use our minds to see and explore new ways and options

Are you being selfish?
Not selfish enough to give yourself some of your own time and space
But selfish because only your opinion counts
Your world really is self-centric, revolving only around you
If others get something wrong you think you could have done a better job
If someone doesn't get something right for you you bristle with anger or irritation about it
Rather do something yourself because your way is the only way
Have you ever considered the other person
What they are dealing with at the time, even the cause is just a genuine mistake or the outcome is fine really just different
Life is a lot more enjoyable and less volatile if you can accommodate others into your world view
And accept suitable alternative solutions, styles, approaches that others present
Next time "your right way" kicks in, take a deep breath in and ask yourself does it really matter?!

Are you committed to your decisions and actions?
Ever attended a class, gone through the motions but not really made an effort?
Agreed to go somewhere with someone but been distracted about something else?
Thought to go on a diet but ran out of steam after a few days
Turning up is only part one of the commitment picture, if you don't turn up you'll never start something!
But making a full commitment is both turning up and giving your focus, attention and energy
Since this can be a big deal pick and choose your commitments wisely so you can be truly committed!

We all know about material clutter
Too much stuff, too little space
So what is spiritual clutter?
Spiritual clutter comes from our thoughts and ideas
Assumptions and conclusions we've made about the world and spirit
That trip us up on our light angel path
If we are aware that we have these self created trip hazards strewn about our path
We can at least look out for them and question whether it is a cause of a hiccup when they happen
If you want to be proactive
You can spend time writing down your thoughts and ideas about spiritual matters and/or discuss them with others who are also open minded
And keep the ideas that work for you!

[Barbara's Daily Message] Feeling Agitated?

Got that agitated feeling?
Can't concentrate, flitter from one thing to the next, things going round and round in the mind?
When we start to get emotional but we can't resolve it we can often end up agitated
Being agitated is tiring, ineffective and not a nice place to be
Learning to move ourselves from that agitated feeling to a calm space is a skill we can develop
First step identify why, not only the topic or interaction but also the emotional response such as, feeling let down or ignored
Then ask if it really matters, if no, we're done!
If yes, understand why and what you can do to help yourself with it
Sometimes just looking after oneself, practising acceptance or reevaluating our assumptions about a situation will help, etc, other times it's more than one action.
Either way we're trying to shift our perspective from an emotional, child like response to a pragmatic, adult response so we can resolve the issue as much as possible
And calm down!

Ever watched someone do something thinking "I can't believe you are doing that"?
Someone crossing the road expecting traffic to stop for them rather than use the crossing close by
Someone making a fuss over pennies of incorrect change
Someone driving dangerously close to the car in front
It's easy to spot when we disagree with others actions and jump to conclusions
But is it obvious to them?
Have they had the same experiences as you to tune them in to the obvious?
Is their situation so different that they know but it's not important to them
So next time you see someone doing something unbelievable
Avoid jumping to conclusions and think about their point of view.

Light Angels, are you procrastinating?

Not doing something when you planned to?

Avoiding activities/tasks you don't want to do?

Making excuses for missing deadlines/changing timings for plans?

We all have good days and bad days

But how much is caused by the procrastination habit? Avoidance, dislike, apathy...

Procrastination often kicks in when we consider how we look after ourselves

We think we are fine, but we are avoiding the diet, disliking committing to exercise or apathetic when it comes to supporting ourselves

If you recognise any of these traits, pick one you'd like to improve and start understanding the reasons why you procrastinate and when

Then come up with some alternatives approaches/strategies to try to beat it

Unlocking these areas will reduce your stress and give you more time in your day

Are you a bit prickly?

When someone suggests something you don't like or don't want to hear

Do you react and say what you think?

Or do you value the person's thoughts even when they don't match your own?

We can be grateful for our "lot" in life

But not express it in our interactions

If someone takes the time to tell you their thoughts

Value the input and listen

Reply based on valuing the input

We don't have to agree but we can be open and reasonable about it!

What does sharing love with others mean?
Being nice to them?
Helping them when they ask for it or perhaps in anticipation?
Projecting love towards them?
All of these have some truth in them but don't quite get to the heart of the matter
We can't love everyone as the special person(s) in our lives
So how do we love others?
Loving others suggests outward acts of love but love is about how we perceive people in our hearts
And with our light role of helping others with their journey
Together this brings the idea of love as "wanting for the other person the best of what they want for themselves"
This unlocks our compassion, truth and support for others in a way that the outward acts of love don't quite reach
Try it for a few days and see how it goes
And enjoy more love in your life!

Ever "heard" a conversation about yourself when you were else where?
We are all connected into the spiritual ("light") network across the world
Tuning in can be triggered by yourself thinking of someone or someone thinking of you
We can use this network to make connections and be connected with those who are important to us which can then trigger these experiences
We can choose to tune in and tune out when we want
And we can use it to share love, support and energy to those in need
If you are in need just tune in to the network and ask for help
If you are feeling bouncy and bonny you can tune in and share your joy with others.

In this busy world
We can get caught up in the pace of things
We can take just a few minutes when we need to to quieten our minds
Just take a seat, take slow, deep breaths and with each out breath drain the busy energy out
Releasing it into the world as happiness
When your mind feels clear, mentally take a short walk, somewhere you find relaxing, such as a wood, by a river/canal or the beach etc... for a minute or two to replenish yourself
And then open your eyes and take your internal peace and quiet with you...

To recognise value or joy in a boring or frustrating situation
This needs us to bring our gratitude to a whole new level
As well as gratitude for what happens to us
To develop gratitude for our place in this world, the miracle of life and the honour of having our light journey
And that we are truly blessed to be here and have this
Once we recognise this blessing in our heart and soul this will transform our view of the world and our place within it
To get to know this deep within ourselves is part of the honour of our journey
And brings a profound sense of peace.

Light Angels, spirits, light path, goody too shoes
It's rubbish isn't it, just a bunch a strange friends off with the fairies?
When you are wondering whether this light angel/spirit stuff really is real?
It's easy to know real when it's directly in front of your face, you can see it, touch it and so can everyone else!
But how do you know that something is real when you can't see or touch it in the same way.
We all have a sixth sense, it's just has different degrees of development in everybody
Some people can sense people's moods, energy, spirits, angels etc. and some people need time to tune in, develop and practice this sense
We can all sense but in times when you can't you just need to know that the light is here
Helping you with your path, supporting you with your experiences and learning
And if you need help just ask, believe it will come, just perhaps when you least expect it!

[Barbara's Daily Message] Joy Time

Do you know how to enjoy and relax yourself?
I don't mean go and do something else to distract yourself from day to day stuff
I mean even in the presence of day to day stuff can you switch all that off
And really relax and enjoy yourself in something?
If you aren't sure, here is the difference:
If it's just distraction, when the distraction over, do you feel a degree of "pending doom" afterwards that immediately starts you feeling stressed or anxious?
Or have you disconnected from that "action mindset" and moved into a "relaxed mindset"?
The rejuvenating effects of joy time come when we are able to disconnect from action...
If you want better joy time, try starting it with meditation, qi gong, tai chi, yoga or just simply a walk in nature.

It's easy to start the year with renewed energy after a break
But what usually happens a couple of weeks later when we start to find we don't have enough energy to keep up the good intentions?
And we can get upset/frustrated at falling off the bandwagon
What if we focused on giving ourselves a strong foundation on which to build our plans
And we started with maintaining our balance, our health and our energy.
Giving ourselves enough sleep and exercise and balancing work and play, rest and action
Give ourselves a continuous good start with a strong foundation!

We are so used to the question "who are you?"
A soul searching question designed to find your inner self
Today, this is about how you have labelled yourself
And once we are aware of our labels, how we can change them
What do you see yourself as?
Lazy bum, hardworking but time starved mum, executive, healer, light angel etc.
You can have more than one label - pull them all out, work them out, even the negative ones
And in the cold light of day, really look at each of them, interrogate them and ask yourself
"Is this really me?" "Is this really what I want to be?" If the answers are "yes!" Fab.
If they aren't, time to change labels and pick a new one, one you want!
Write it down and put it somewhere, e.g. on your bath room mirror, where you'll see it everyday
And say it to yourself daily what you are, believe it and you'll become it.

We can become drained if we take on too much,

Or even depressed if we just continue struggling in the vain hope all will improve
Focus on one area alone, one you can do something about,
Work out what one action you can take that will make a difference to you
While optimism can come from an attitude it also comes from being proactive and making a difference to life
Take action, no matter how small, to get yourself going, keep taking action and build your optimism

Do you spend your time and energy worrying?
Even though you know it doesn't help
But you can't turn it off?
We worry when we are unable to see or think through something to a satisfactory end
And we often exacerbate the situation with our imagination and "what if?" thinking
At these times, take heart in reality rather than in your mind
Write down what is going on, see it for real in black and white
And then look at the different "what if?" scenarios and assess what is likely
And when you know that, work out what you are able to do about each reasonable scenario
If you need help and support to do this, ask someone you trust to help
And, as always, the light is here if you need it, just ask!

How do you want to spend your life?
Avoiding people you've fallen out with
Feeling "right", rejected or angry?
Holding onto negative feelings doesn't bring peace but more negative feelings
Leading to a downward spiral of internal negativity
There is only one solution: Let go of the pain and bring love and forgiveness
Both to yourself and the other parties
Then continue to live the path of love and forgiveness

It's funny, some people just have a cheery disposition
Others have a frequent moan about the wrongs of their world

Some people feel powerless, some powerful
This means it is our personal interpretation of the world that is making the difference
The good news is...
If it is our interpretation causing the problem, we can change it!
Start looking today at the assumptions driving your attitude and outlook
And change the ones you don't like!!

At the cold, stormy times of year
We can choose to fight and do what we always do
Or we can respond to the conditions presented to us
And adapt our plans
When we fight it costs us in all forms of energy
Sometimes a short fight will be what is needed
Most times we should consider changing our plans, looking for the low energy solutions

New year brings us a present
An opportunity to reflect on our past year
And look forward on our new year

The jewel of knowing where you headed over the next few years requires a lot of panning and polishing
